This FAQ will cover how to take out and replace the Zim heater block.
WARNING: Make sure the printer head and other components are cool enough to safely touch.
Necessary tools: A 5/64 Allen Key and a #2 tip Philips Screwdriver
1. First make sure your Zim is powered off by pressing and holding down the power button for 3-5 seconds. Make sure the button becomes red after you do so.
2. Unplug your Zim carefully by gently wiggling out the power cable. Make sure to unplug all other cables that are plugged in to your zim.
3. Remove the printing plate from your printer carefully. Remove the screws on the front and back at the top of your Zim printer head. You will need a 5/64 Allen key for the screws at the back.
4. Carefully remove the power wire located second starting from the top by pressing on the switch and pulling/wiggling until it comes out. Also remove the bottom-most cable by wiggling it gently while pushing on the little button-like formation at the back of it with the help of a pointy tool. These two cables are connected directly to the heat block.
5. Unscrew the two screws on the heater block using a 5/64 Allen Key. Some printers may only have one heat block, follow the same instructions.
6. Wiggle the heater block while pulling it downwards until it comes out completely
7. Take the new heater block and wiggle it upwards until it is correctly in place. Replace the heater block screws making sure they are not too tight or too loose. Carefully place the cables back in their spots making sure they are securely clicked in place.
8.Replace the head covering and fasten it securely with the two back and front screws, making sure they are not too tight or too loose.
9. Plug your zim back in and turn it on. You have succesfully changed your heater block!
