This procedure details how to connect your zim to an ethernet network.


Requirements :

The initial setting up of zim requires a PC with Wi-Fi connectivity. 


IMPORTANT NOTE : Do not connect zim to ethernet yet



1. Switch on your zim by pressing the power button.

Wait for 45 seconds after pushing the button until the green light flashes once. 


2. On your device (PC or MAC) go to the Wi-Fi networks list and select “zim_initializationxxxx”.

(xxxx represents the four last digits of zim serial number which may be found on a sticker beneath zim)

Once connected launch your web browser and type in the address bar: http://10.0.0.1/connection/advanced

You will arrive on the page shown below :


3. Choose "With a wired connection", you will then get on the page shown below:


4. In most cases, "Automatic Configurations will be enough". If needed, choose "Advanced configuration" as shown below to specify a fixed

Ip address, gateway address and DSserver?


5.Whatever choice you just made, you'll get to the following page which will allow you to choose the name of your zim printer.

By default, your printer is named zim. If you want to change its name, be sure to use only alphanumerical cararacters (a to z and 0 to 9).


After having clicked on OK; you need to :

1. Connect zim to your ethernet network

2. Connect your PC to the same network as zim.


In some cases, clicking OK will return an error. This error can be disregarded, the parameters of the connection will still be valid.


If you didn't change zim name, you'll be able to connect to your printer at http://zim/ or http://zim.local/ depending on your device and your network.


WARNING :Depending on your network, it may take a few minutes for the nale you chose (zim or other) to propagate on the network and be visible from your device.
